Homeownership is expensive. And a home warranty is one of the best ways to protect yourself from the unexpected cost of repairing and replacing the appliances and systems in your home. Cinch Home Services has been providing home warranties for more than 40 years.

Wondering whether Cinch Homes Services is right for you? Keep reading to learn more about what the company has to offer, what we like about it, and what other customers have to say.

What Is Cinch Home Services?

Cinch Home Services is a home warranty company that provides a variety of different plans to cover the appliances and systems in your home. Cinch was founded more than 40 years ago under the name Cross Country Home Services. It went through a rebranding in 2019, not only changing its name to Cinch Home Services but also improving its services and vision as a company.

So what exactly is a home warranty? A home warranty is a protection plan you can purchase to help cover the cost of repairing or replacing the appliances and systems in your home. Home warranties commonly cover electrical, plumbing and heating and cooling systems, as well as major home appliances like your refrigerator, dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer and more.

These plans are often customizable, meaning you can pick and choose which parts of your home you want coverage for. Plans typically have a cap on coverage, meaning they’ll cover up to a certain amount for repairs and replacement. They may also require a deductible when you file a claim.

Home warranties are popular for new home buyers who are acquiring systems and appliances they may have to repair or replace unexpectedly. While home warranties are often a good purchase for new homeowners who don’t know the history of their home’s systems and appliances, many homeowners choose to buy them no matter how long they’ve owned their home as a way of protecting themselves from high unexpected costs.

Plans From Cinch Home Warranty

Cinch Home Services offers three different warranty plans for its customers to choose from. Each plan covers a different set of home systems so each customer can choose the one that’s the best fit.

While Cinch’s three plans are different, they have a few key things in common. First, each plan comes with a 180-day workmanship guarantee. If they don’t solve the problem, they’ll come back again and continue working on it for free. Additionally, all three plans include protection for unknown preexisting conditions. As a result, you won’t be penalized for issues you didn’t know about.

Next, all three plans include rust and corrosion coverage, and they won’t deny your service request because of them. Finally, all Cinch customers, regardless of the plan they choose, will get a discount on new brand-name appliances.

Here’s a breakdown of what each of Cinch’s three plans covers:

Appliances Plan

The Appliances Plan is the most affordable of Cinch’s plans. With a starting price of $27.99, it covers nearly all of the appliances in your home. Specifically, it covers all kitchen appliances, as well as the clothes washer and dryer. It also includes a water sensor and offers an air conditioning or water filter credit.

Built-In Systems Plan

The Built-In Systems Plan, with a starting price of $32.99, covers most of the built-in systems in your home. Covered parts include your air conditioning, fans, electrical system, plumbing and other similar systems. Like the Appliances Plan, it also includes a water sensor and offers an air conditioning or water filter credit.

Complete Home Plan

The Complete Home Plan is the most expensive of Cinch’s warranty plans and, according to the company’s website, the one with the best value. This plan combines the coverage of both the Appliances Plan and Built-In Systems Plan and covers nearly everything in your home. The Complete Home Plan also includes a homeowners insurance deductible reimbursement of up to $500, with a limit of one claim per year.

Cinch On-Demand

In a newer offering, Cinch now offers on-demand repair services in select areas. Using Cinch On-Demand, individuals without a Cinch protection plan can schedule appliance repair with a local service professional, starting at just $79. This Cinch service hasn’t made it to all service areas yet, but it’s regularly expanding.

What Cinch Home Services Covers (And What They Don’t)

According to Cinch Home Services’ website, its home warranty plans cover mechanical breakdowns from routine use — aka normal wear and tear. Plans cover mechanical and non-mechanical parts like motors, switches, knobs, and handles.

Cinch’s home warranty plans don’t cover nonmechanical issues. For example, your home warranty won’t cover damage or wear and tear on your roof, walls, doors or windows. The company also doesn’t provide protection for appliances and systems that have been installed or repaired improperly.
