Cute Cabins Alert! Here is what happens when an upland, south-facing section of Boreal Woods meets a talented carpenter with a retreat vision: cabins of character appear. All warm wood, inspiring, restful. One is for sleeping, thinking, reading and dreaming. The other for cooking, gathering, story-telling, laying out maps, going deep. The sleeping cabin’s exterior is natural wood, accented with colored siding to transform a cabin into an art-piece. A deck wraps the cabin neatly, a place for pacing in search of spring warblers or shifting the perch to be just so. Inside, light pours in, woodstove crackles and a loft takes dreaming to the next level! Step out to Northwoods Courtyard Living. Across the clearing of clean washed gravel is the gathering cabin. On the left, a woodshed – sturdy little structure with aspirations of becoming a sauna when it grows up. Further along is the outhouse: County approved, never been used! Stroll over to get breakfast going. Step inside, admiring the upcycled lumber timber frame with unique Douglas Fir beams. The Fir came to the shore years ago when his kin of straight-grain 20’ 2 x12 brethren were more common. Now, a board like that is like trying to find an elf, and the cost… oof. Luckily, the resourceful carpenter “knew a guy” that had salvaged the boards from Sugarloaf Cove Logging Camp and carefully housed them to live and soar again in the mind and hands of someone who has seen a thing or two of neat little buildings, sensible scale, shaping interiors to inspire. Stalwart woodstove that came from another saver-friend, under the guidance of the sage carpenter, has reinvented itself here for a second career. Come reimagine yourself, that’s the vibe here - from the materials, to the conversation, to the transitioning winds and temps. This is enough for most, but there’s more! 6+ acres that “play” larger, abutting public lands on two sides. Maybe back in there is a future homesite, the cabins can be for guests or the kids when they get all teened-up. Water collection comes off three of the roofs. Power and fiber are down at the start of the driveway. Though, think twice, the quiet and darkness in these cabins currently is pristine: no humming fridge, no LED glowing into the dreaming mind. Nice mix of woods sways around, whispering among themselves: maples, aspen, birch, spruce. This is a creative, evolving space… come center yourself in the “courtyard” and take the reins.
