The road begins as a two-lane asphalt road and then narrows down to a one-lane asphalt road and eventually turns to gravel. Once you reach the gravel look for an old 8'' gate post at the ''Slick Rock'' crossing and take a right. The road will wind up the mountain under the TVA power line until you reach the peak at Big Wheel Gap.
