Since the old road up to the ridge is soggy in winter please just park in the grass by Harrell Hill Road and walk from there. Walking up the neighbors' driveway you'll see the dirt road leading up to the ridge just after you pass the old root cellar. From Spruce Pine take 226 to a left on Mine Creek Rd. Go all of the way to the end then go left on 226. After the Red Hil gas station you veer left onto 197. After crossing the bridge over Big Rock Creek you'll turn right onto Harrell Hill Rd. In 0.8 miles the property will be on your right. Park in the grass on the right before the creek and neighbors' driveway. The neighbor's address is 754 Harrell Hill Rd, Bakersville in case you need something to plug into your GPS. From Burnsville take 197N all of the way to Red Hill then turn left onto 226. Then follow directions above.
